Ideal Brushing Techniques
Putting your efforts in the wrong way won’t do any good in oral hygiene maintenance. Using the correct technique is imperative if you want to keep those pearly whites healthy and strong. Look for the correct methods below.
Step 1: Place your toothbrush roughly at an angulation of 45° to the gums and brush in small circular motions across the front teeth to remove any trapped debris or food particles from beneath the gums.
Step 2: Brush the Inner Side of your Front Teeth. Since this surface is not visible, one tends to skip it. But beware, this is the most common area of plaque and calculus accumulation. Clean it religiously with several up and down strokes by tilting the brush vertically.

A child’s oral hygiene routine should begin as early as within days after the birth. Initially, you’re your infant’s gum-pads with a soft washcloth after feeding. With the eruption of milk teeth, brushing the teeth is essential. Do it for your kid until the child has muscle dexterity enough to hold and wield the toothbrush. Remember, it is never too early to develop a good habit, so start the kids young on their oral hygiene journey. Guide them with these steps:
Step 1: Place the brush horizontally on the front and backside.
Step 2: use small back and forth motions to scrub gently. It is the most naturally adopted technique by children and the simplest way to brush for your child.
Step 3: gently clean the tongue.
Use fluoridated toothpaste for brushing. Fluoride forms a hard protective layer on your teeth and prevents them from bacterial acid attacks.
Wait for at least 30 minutes after eating food to brush your teeth. The bacterial acid production is greatest during this duration and any additional abrasive action on the teeth will erode the soft enamel.
Chose a brush with soft bristles. The plaque is loosely attached to your teeth and easily removed with soft bristles. Opting for harder bristles may lead to wear of your teeth structure. Moreover, soft bristles bend easily to clean beneath the gum line.
Don’t hold on to your brush for too long. Substitute it with a new one when the bristles look frayed or you have been armoured with one for more than 3 months now.
